Help Your Family Keep Smiling
I think that what sets our office apart as a family practice is how much we understand the juggle. Trying to get kids in and out of school…oftentimes, a family of five or six, and the parents have to take time off work. We have to get around the patient’s schedule, and oftentimes, you know, our schedulers are really great at trying to figure out how can we get two hygienists working side by side so that we can get families in and out, you know, as timely as we can, so that everybody can get back to their lives as usual.
So parents maybe are really nervous because they didn’t grow up having great dentistry, or they had experiences that weren’t great for them. So, they’re really nervous for their children. Rightly so. What we do is to try to encourage them to bring them in early. Get them in the process of teaching them how to take care of their teeth, knowing when the parents still have to have hands-on, knowing when it’s time to let the kids start to have some independence, and how we bridge that gap when it’s the right time as well as, you know, just identifying early on concerns for children. Getting them on the path that they need.
Some kids will do great. I think in this time right now, the biggest thing I’m seeing is a lot of the food choices, drink choices that are out there that are getting kids into problems with cavities at a lot younger age. And I’d like to try to be able to preempt those issues by children starting early, and understanding that what they do at home, not just with brushing, but with what they do with their food choices, can make a big difference on the cavities that they might have or other problems. So, with keeping your entire family’s health in mind, please come see us at Schope Dental.
